Samsung Galaxy S5 Active render gives us best look at phone yet

While Samsung has yet to confirm its
existence, the number of leaked details
and pics for the Galaxy S5 Active make
it pretty obvious that such a device is
actively in the works. Now we’re getting
one the best looks at the handset we’ve
had to date, thanks to a new press
render from Evan Blass (aka evleaks).

The new render doesn’t tell us anything
new about the device but it does better
show off the handset’s aesthetics,
which many argue look better than the
actual Galaxy S5. With the GS5 adding
water/dust resistance, you might
wonder how the Galaxy S5 will be able to
set itself apart from its similar-spec’d
brother. Looking at the render, it seems
the answer is to give the handset an
even more ruggedized looking design
that should offer better protection
from water, dust and even minor drops.

As for what’s on the inside, the handset
is believed to offer the same
Snapdragon 801 CPU with 2GB of RAM.
Other specs include microSD, a 2800 mAh
removable battery, a 5.2-inch 1080p
display, a 16MP isocell camera, and even
the GS5’s heart rate sensor. The Galaxy
S5 fingerprint scanner isn’t included
here, though.

Overall the Galaxy S5 Active looks like a
solid option for those that want the
GS5 but would like even better
protection from the elements. As for
when we’ll see it? We can’t say for
certain just yet, though — judging by
the render above — we know it will at
least come to AT&T in the United
States.
